Project 7 Racing set up a support team to assist the team of Hastings and Harmon in cracking some distance records, not a mean feat. Sports Massage Zone were appointed to work with the athletes to manage injuries, functional biomechanics and soigner support for training and attempts. When David crashed on a training ride, a torn Achilles tendon delayed the attempt. Achilles tendon rehab is one area Peta McSharry sees great improvements with the fascial treatment used in clinic, so dealing with a tear did not prove such a problem.

What proved more challenging was not being in the same town as the injured Athlete. On duty for Eurosport, David travelled for much of the time we needed to get him recovered, so our treatment strategy involved instruction on self-treating the area, along with remedial exercises. Six weeks later David returned to training, a great result given the normal 3 month off training with such an injury. More details can be found in our case study area.

Several articles were published by David during the training for the record attempt and with an easy, eloquent style of writing, they are worth a read.
